Design competition for permanent venue of Greater Bay Science Forum launched

A design competition for the permanent venue of the Greater Bay Science Forum was launched at the opening ceremony of the Greater Bay Science Forum 2021 held in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, on Dec 11.

The permanent venue of the Greater Bay Science Forum will be located in central Nansha Pearl Bay, bordering on the CBD in Lingshan Island Area and Nansha Science City. The venue, covering an area of about 100,000 square meters, is 4.5 kilometers from the Pearl Science Park and faces the permanent venue of the International Financial Forum across the water.

When completed, the project will become a landmark building that can host world-class events.  It will become an important channel and high-end window to showcase the achievements in scientific and technological innovation in the Greater Bay Area, said Dong Ke, head of Nansha, a district seated at the southern tip of Guangzhou.

While providing professional services to the Greater Bay Science Forum, the venue will also have multiple functions to serve such purposes as conventions, exhibitions, commercial services, entertainments, and cultural and art shows.

"We are deeply encouraged and honored that Nansha has been chosen as the permanent venue of the forum," said Dong.

He said Nansha is a city of the future with enormous potential and broad prospects. The local government is taking full advantages of its beautiful natural resources to build a new type of waterfront city that benchmarks well-developed cities at home and abroad.
