High-end products shown at Greater Bay Area Science Forum

Local companies displayed their high-tech products at the Greater Bay Area Science Forum held from Dec 11 to 13, 2021, in Nansha district in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province.

Richard John Roberts, who was awarded the 1993 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine and founded the Laureate Science Alliance, delivered a keynote speech via video link on Dec 11. 

3D screens made by COEUS, an enterprise located in Nansha, allowed the audience to see a vivid holographic image of the speaker.

"Our products have a holographic engine operating system equipped with artificial intelligence, 5G and other technologies, which can realize real-time modeling and rendering, said Mo Jinbo, general manager of COEUS. It performs intelligent visual correction through AI algorithms, greatly improving the efficiency of naked eye 3D content production, Mo added.

IFlytek's simultaneous interpretation system was used at a marine science sub-forum held on Dec 12. As speakers were talking at the sub-forum, Chinese and English subtitles were displayed on the screen. The system supports voice recognition and translation for nine languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish, German, Russian and Arabic. 

The system has a recognition rate of more than 98 percent in Chinese, over 95 percent in English, and a language recognition delay of less than 500 milliseconds, said an executive at iFlytek, a company based in Nansha. 

In addition, intelligent atomization and disinfection robots were used at the forum. They were made by the Institute of Intelligent Software, Guangzhou, a scientific research unit based in Nansha. The robots have been widely used in public places such as airports, stations and exhibition halls.
