Zhang Suojiang

Zhang Suojiang is an expert in chemical engineering, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a research fellow and director of the Institute of Process Engineering, CAS, a doctoral supervisor and president of Henan University.

In 1986, Zhang graduated from the department of chemistry of Henan University with a bachelor's degree; in 1994, he graduated from the department of chemistry of Zhejiang University with a doctoral degree, and then studied at Beijing University of Chemical Technology as a postdoctoral fellow. In 1995, he won a scholarship to study in Japan; in 1997, he worked at Mitsubishi Chemical Group, and in 2001, he came back to China to work at the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2006, he was supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; in 2010, he served as the director of CAS's Institute of Process Engineering, and in 2015, he was elected as an academician of CAS. In 2017, he served as the dean of the School of Chemical Engineering of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in June 2022 he became the president of Henan University.

Zhang has been engaged in studies of ionic liquids and green processes, including the molecular design of ionic liquids as well as their preparation and cleaning processes.
