Pan has made creative achievements and outstanding contributions in atmospheric correction, inversion modeling and application technology of ocean water color remote sensing, as well as simulation theory, system establishment and application of remote sensing satellite application effects. He has published more than 180 papers in top journals in this field.
In 2001, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).
