Zhu Yongguan
Zhu Yongguan is an expert on ecological environment and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the World Academy of Sciences. He is also a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Urban Environment and the Ecological Environment Research Center under the CAS.
Zhu graduated from Zhejiang A&F University in 1989 and obtained the Master of Science degree from the Institute of Soil Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1992. In 1998, he received a doctoral degree from Imperial College London and was selected into the CAS "Hundred Talents Program" in 2001.
In 2002, he worked as a researcher at the CAS Ecological Environment Research Center won supported from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. From 2004 to 2012, he served as a scientific adviser to the International Atomic Energy Agency under the United Nations; he was director of the Institute of Urban Environment of the CAS from 2009 to 2018; In 2022, he received the Von Liebig Award from the International Union of Soil Sciences, becoming the first scientist to win the honor in Asia.
Zhu has long been engaged in environmental pedology and environmental biology research.
