Zhang Jin

Zhang Jin is a physical chemist, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), professor of the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University, doctoral supervisor and deputy director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology. 

Zhang was admitted to Lanzhou University in 1988 where he received his bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees successively; in 1998, he started postdoctoral research in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leeds; in 2000, he came back to China to work at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University; in 2007, he was supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; from 2015 to 2018, he served as the vice-president of the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University; in 2016, he served as the vice-president of the Beijing Graphene Institute; in 2018, he served as the deputy director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, and as the director of the Beijing low-dimensional carbon materials engineering technology research center; in 2019, he was elected an academician of CAS; and in 2021, he served as the Deputy Party Secretary and Dean of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School.

Zhang has long been engaged in the study of the growth mechanism, characterization techniques and preparation methods of nanocarbon materials.
