Xu Zongben
Xu Zongben was born in Shangluo, Shaanxi province in January,1955. He is a mathematician, an expert on signal and information processing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Xi'an Jiaotong University,
Xu graduated from the Mathematics Department of Northwest University in 1976, and received a doctoral degree in science from XJTU in 1987. From 1987 to 1989, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Strathclyde, the United Kingdom . From 1990 to 1994, he served as the director of the Research Office of Nonlinear Analysis Theory and Method at the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Applied Mathematics of XJTU. In 1994, he was the director and a doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Information and System Science of XJTU and the dean of the university's School of Science from 1997 to 2003. In 2010, he was invited to give a report at the International Congress of Mathematicians. In 2011, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Xu has long been engaged in basic theoretical research on intelligent information processing, machine learning and data modeling, and in the teaching and research on the mathematical basis for Banach space geometry theory and intelligent information processing.
