Review on first anniversary of Greater Bay Area Science Forum

The first Greater Bay Area Science Forum was successfully held in Guangzhou from December 11 to 13, 2021. Themed on "Exploring the Future, Sharing Scientific Achievement", it consisted of one plenary meeting and six sub forums in various fields and featured activities of the "International Youth Leaders' Summit". 

The 2021 Forum was held both online and offline, with about 1,500 participants on site and more than 1,000 online attendees.

This year, we will work hard and forge ahead, and devote ourselves to all the work of the 2022 Greater Bay Area Science Forum, under the guidance of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, and with the support of the governments at all levels in Guangdong Province.

Formulate plan and elaborate design. We have formulated the forum plan, held expert seminars, established a strategic advisory committee composed of national dignitaries, leaders of international organizations, and well-known scholars. We are devoted to holding the forum throughout the year to create a "never ending forum".

Based on science and development. We have organized a series of industry-university-research cooperation projects, including those on special metal bearing steel, corrosion resistance technology, GPU, binocular identification in cities, injecting vitality into the "Nansha Plan" and the innovative development of the Greater Bay Area.

Focus on long-term development. We promoted the signing of the "Quartet Agreement" and held the launching ceremony of the permanent site of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, laying a solid foundation for the Forum to base itself on the Greater Bay Area, collaborate with Hong Kong and Macao, and face the world.

Gather resources and intellectual support. Focusing on the implementation of major achievements, research and development of key technologies, and the Greater Bay Area Science Award, we carried out expert consultations, consolidated the foundation of high-end think tanks, and explored ways to solve important global problems through scientific and technological innovation.

Deepen exchanges and cooperation. We have held a series of academic exchange activities including famous teachers' lectures attended by top scientists, including the winners of the Fields Medal and Turing Award, to deepen innovation cooperation in the Greater Bay Area.

The Greater Bay Area Science Forum has received congratulatory messages from Nobel Prize winners, Fields Medal winners, academicians of the Academy of Sciences and other well-known scientists and representatives of international organizations from many countries and regions around the world. The experts proposed exchanges and cooperation within the international scientific community to carry forward the spirit of scientific exploration, solve key global common problems, and promote the development of the science and technology industry.

Bring together wisdom, bring together the world. We will continue to work with representatives from all walks of life, such as global scientists, entrepreneurs and financiers to create a platform for scientific exchanges and cooperation where we can discuss, build and share, and where we can answer the world's questions with science, and cooperate to explore the road of innovation and development.
