The 2nd BRI academic forum held in Beijing
The 2nd High-quality BRI Development Academic Forum was held in Beijing on Feb 26. Organized by the Institute of Geographic Science and Natural Resource Research, CAS, Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) and other organizations, the forum aims to review the achievements of the BRI in the past decade and discuss measures for high-quality development.
The following officials and experts -- Chen Yuan, president of the Silk Road Planning Research Center and vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC; Bai Chunli, president of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum and academician of the Chinese Academy of Science; Ning Jizhe, vice-president of the Center for International Economic Exchanges; and Justin Lin Yifu, honorary president of the National Institute of Development, Peking University -- delivered remarks at the forum.

Chen pointed out that as the BRI is about to usher in its 10th anniversary, it is necessary to make a summary and a vision statement. He said that experts should strengthen academic exchanges, and promote the BRI's high-quality development.

Bai stressed that the scientific and technological advancements have played a unique role in promoting the BRI's high-quality development, especially in the new fields such as health, digital and innovation.

Yang Yongfeng, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Bureau of the CAS, pointed out that the Greater Bay Science Forum, launched by ANSO in 2021, has built a high-level exchange platform for global scientific development and cooperation.
Yang also mentioned that the CAS has set up the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, aiming to promote high-quality development of the BRI and resolve issues encountered in regional collaborative innovation.

Nie Xiaowei, executive secretary-general of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, made an academic report on the empowerment of scientific and technological innovation in the BRI regional development.
Nie carried out analysis in terms of scientific data and international organizations. He pointed out that international organizations are an important carrier for supporting regional development. "We should attach importance to the strength of international organizations, such as ANSO and the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, to gather global resources such as science and technology, talent, as well as innovation," he said.
