Gao Wen
Gao Wen is an academician with the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the director of the Peng Cheng Laboratory (PCL), and was a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress.
Gao is a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering at Peking University, and distinguished professor of the Boya Chair. He serves as chairman of the New Generation Artificial Intelligence Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance (AITISA) and leader of the Audio Video Coding Standards Workgroup (AVS) of China.
Gao is a recipient of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation (HLHL) Advancement Prize (2022) and the Nanyue Outstanding Contribution Award in Guangdong Province (2021), as well as having won a first prize and two second prizes in the National Technology Invention Awards, and five second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Awards.
His research mainly focuses on artificial intelligence applications and multimedia technology, computer vision, pattern recognition, image processing, and virtual reality. He has authored several books, including "Principles of Digital Video Coding" and "Advanced Video Coding Systems".
