Gong Peng

Gong Peng is an academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences and vice-president (Academic Development) of the University of Hong Kong. Gong is an expert in geography and remote sensing change monitoring, and is one of 13 advisors of the Future Earth organization sponsored by the International Council for Science, the United Nations Environment Programme, and UNESCO, as well as one of 19 members of the Earth Commission.

His main research interests include urbanization and health, the mapping and monitoring of global environmental changes, and the modeling of environmentally-related infectious diseases. He has received numerous research awards from the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, the American Geographical Society, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Science Bulletin.

More than 30 of his graduate and postdoctoral students now hold academic positions at major universities in the United States and China, including the University of California, Berkeley, the University of California, Los Angeles, and Tsinghua University.
