Ren Yonghua
Ren Yonghua is an inorganic chemist, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an academician of The World Academy of Sciences, a foreign academician of the National Academy of Sciences, a foreign academician of the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities, and a founding academician of the Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong. She is a professor of chemistry and energy of the Philip K.H. Wong Foundation and an endowed professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hong Kong.
Ren graduated from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hong Kong with a first-class BCs (Hons) in 1985. After obtaining her doctorate from the University of Hong Kong in 1988, she began teaching at the City University of Hong Kong, and later joined the University of Hong Kong in 1990, where she successively served as a lecturer, senior lecturer, professor, and endowed professor. In 2005, she won second prize in the National Natural Science Awards of China. In 2011, she won the World Outstanding Female Scientist Achievement Award.
