Zhao Hongwei

Zhao Hongwei is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He specializes in accelerator physics. He currently serves as the vice-director at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also serves as the vice-chairman of the Chinese Nuclear Society, executive director of the Chinese Physical Society, and vice-chairman of the Chinese Vacuum Society.

Zhao has made innovative contributions in areas such as high-current high charge state ECR ion sources, heavy ion cyclotrons, electron cooling, and high-current proton superconducting linear accelerators. His research achievements have gained significant international recognition. He has received several prestigious awards, including the "Brightness Award", the highest honor in the field of ion sources; the National Distinguished Young Scientists Fund, the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award; the First Prize of the CAS Science and Technology Progress Award.
