Introduction:

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, deputy director of the Department of Science, Peking University, deputy director of the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the member of the 14th CPPCC Standing Committee. He is mainly engaged in the research on the mutual feedback relationship between terrestrial ecosystem and climate change in the field of physical geography, and has made systematic innovative achievements in the carbon sink function of China's terrestrial ecosystem, and the response and feedback of terrestrial ecosystem to climate change. He has published more than 100 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author. The results have been reviewed by Nature (4 articles), Nature Climate Change (1 article), and Nature Ecology and Evolution (2 articles), and have been elected as one of the "Top 10 News of Chinese Fundamental Research in 2009" and "Top 10 Scientific and Technological Advances in Chinese Higher Education Institutions in 2013".

He received the Earth Science Award from The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2016 and the 12th Young Chinese Science and Technology Award in 2011. He currently serves on the editorial board of journals such as National Science ReviewGlobal Change Biology and has served on the Scientific Steering Committee for the Global Carbon Project.
