Guo Huadong

Guo Huadong is an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a researcher at the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the CAS. He is a space and earth scientist, a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Finland, TWAS member, and fellow of the International Council for Science (ICSU). He is currently the director of the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS) and the chair of the Academic Committee of the Aerospace Information Research Institute, CAS. He serves as the honorary president of the International Society for Digital Earth, the director of the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST), a member of the Scientific Mission Committee for Global Sustainable Development of the International Council for Science, the chair of the Digital Belt and Road Program (DBAR), and the chief editor of the International Journal of Digital Earth and Big Earth Data.

Guo has previously served as a member of the 10-member group for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Technology Facilitation Mechanism, the chair of the International Committee on Remote Sensing of Environment, the president of the International Society for Digital Earth, and the chair of the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), among other roles.

He has made a series of achievements in the field of space and earth sciences, including remote sensing information mechanisms, radar observations of the Earth, and digital earth science.
