Greater Bay Area Science Forum 2024 takes off in Guangzhou
The Greater Bay Area Science Forum 2024 commenced at the Guangzhou Nansha International Convention Center on Nov 17, themed on "leading through open science." This year's forum aimed to harness the technological and industrial strengths of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to build a critical hub for frontier science and future industries in China.
Co-hosted by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, and the Macao SAR Government, this event marked a historic collaboration, with related sub-forums and special activities taking place simultaneously across the three regions.
The forum's structure featured an opening ceremony, a main forum, 14 sub-forums, and five special activities. Notably, the main forum included keynote speeches by Nobel Prize laureates, Fields Medal winners, international academic leaders, renowned academicians, and industry giants. These discussions underscored the importance of open science in driving high-quality development and fostering a spirit of inclusivity, innovation, and progress.
The sub-forums delved into cutting-edge topics in science and industry, exploring new industrialization paths and the cultivation of strategic emerging sectors. This vibrant exchange of ideas and knowledge is set to invigorate the Greater Bay Area's innovation ecosystem, positioning it as a pivotal player in China's scientific and economic advancement.
