The University of Macao hosted the Greater Bay Area Science Forum 2024: Macao Forum on Nov 18 to discuss new opportunities for open cooperation in the scientific and technological sector, contributing to the growth of Macao's moderate diversified economy.
The event, bringing together nearly 400 renowned scientists, researchers, experts and scholars from around the world, focused on cutting-edge technologies in brain-like intelligence and artificial intelligence.
This year marks the third edition of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, and it was Macao's first time holding a sub-forum. The event demonstrated Macao's active role in assisting the Greater Bay Area in becoming a global hub for technological innovation, highlighting the significant support that technological innovation provides for the development of the GBA.
To further explore how Macao can better integrate into the GBA's technological innovation system, the forum included a roundtable science dialogue focusing on major development opportunities in the GBA and China, with in-depth discussions on fields such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, and lunar and planetary sciences.
In addition, sub-forums on brain science, brain-like technology, artificial intelligence and robotics were held alongside the forum, attracting nearly 100 experts and scholars from countries and regions including Sweden, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Italy, Germany, Canada, the Chinese mainland and Macau.
Both sub-forums emphasized open cooperation, aiding the GBA in accelerating its development into an internationally influential center for technological innovation and effectively promoting the moderate diversification of Macao's economy.
