Guangzhou seminar focuses on model for cross-border data flows

An important seminar focusing on a new model for trustworthy cross-border data flows was held on Feb 15 in Nansha district of Guangzhou – capital of South China's Guangdong province.

The event, hosted by the Hong Kong-based International Institute for Advanced Data Management Study and organized by the Lingshan Forum Science Center, was called the Seminar on Cross-border Trusted Data Matrix: A Data-Empowered Future.

Over 200 experts, academics, officials and industry representatives attended the seminar.

They discussed the establishment rules and methods for a cross-border trusted data matrix, the operation of real world assets or RWA in trusted data matrix or open platforms – and the development of talent amid the growth of the global digital economy and artificial intelligence.

The event was held with the goal of further promoting the development of a unified and efficient data market and the construction of a trusted data matrix.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the seminar, Ma Huan, chairman of DAMA China Limited – said that his company's efforts would focus going forwards on meeting the demands of the Chinese market, strengthening localization, innovation, talent development and enhancing cooperation in the field of data management.

Chai Yingping, a legal expert and partner at Deheng Law Offices in Beijing, stressed the need for companies to comply with international regulatory rules when engaging in cross-border data flow.

She suggested that companies should establish a more comprehensive and robust compliance management system at the organizational, institutional and technological levels.

During a roundtable session, experts and industry representatives engaged in discussions on topics such as Chinese AI firm DeepSeek leading the way in creating a new wave of artificial intelligence, how data assets and talent empower organizational development and strategies for going global to create new business opportunities.
