GSF: Global pioneer in innovation
The 2024 Greater Bay Area Science Forum, featuring the theme "Leading through Open Science" took place from Nov 16 to 18, with events held simultaneously in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao for the first time. Over 100 academicians and thousands of scientists and industry leaders from the three regions came together to discuss technological innovation and industrial transformation.
The event focused on 14 cutting-edge fields, including AI, carbon neutrality, and low-altitude economy, with Nobel and Fields Medal laureates joining industry leaders to offer insights on tech innovation and industry upgrades.
Emphasis was also placed on new quality productive forces, especifically the integration of tech and industry. Experts highlighted the potential of the low-altitude economy as a new growth area. AI forums showcased applications in manufacturing and healthcare, while a tech fair displayed over 240 achievements from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Over the past five years, the forum has fostered an innovative ecosystem, supported by a strategic advisory committee of 24 experts. Initiatives like campus science outreach and industry-academia partnerships have strengthened this ecosystem.
Marking its fifth anniversary, the 2025 GSF will focus on developing a modern industrial system with well-coordinated industry-research collaboration and international engagement across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. It will spotlight cutting-edge technological innovations and emerging industries, leveraging its soon-to-be-completed permanent venue to drive progress. The forum aims to foster development through innovation, accelerating the integration of education, technology, and talent.
