Recently, Bai Chunli, president of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, delivered a keynote speech titled "AI Driving Paradigm Shifts in Scientific Research" at the 22nd "Master Lecture Series" at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Bai highlighted AI's evolution from a scientific research tool to a transformative technology impacting various industries.

He emphasized integrating AI deeply into all disciplines to enhance national innovation efficiency, boost international competitiveness, and drive societal change.

Bai showcased cutting-edge research examples like the world's first mobile robotic chemist at the University of Liverpool, AI-enabled high-throughput preparation and characterization at Beijing University of Chemical Technology for new catalytic materials, and the protein structure prediction platform AlphaFold 3. These cases illustrated AI's applications and prospects in reshaping the chemistry research paradigm.

Furthermore, Bai discussed AI's role in accelerating chemical reaction predictions, discovering new chemical substances, automating chemical experiments, facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations, and in-depth mining of chemical literature data.

He analyzed the challenges facing AI in chemistry. He proposed strengthening "AI for Chemistry" through strategic planning, talent development in AI and chemistry, infrastructure enhancement for chemical big data, and focused domain-specific model construction.
