Guangzhou, Hong Kong forge new science, technology partnership
On May 30, Xie Wei, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Nansha Development Zone in Guangzhou, met with Li Ran, president of the Hong Kong Beijing University Alumni Association (HKAABJU), to discuss cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's science and technology sectors.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Greater Bay Area Science Forum (GSF) and HKAABJU, with the aim of boosting the region's international tech innovation.
Xie emphasized the opportunity for collaboration between the forum and high-profile events like the Hong Kong World Youth Science Congress. This partnership aims to strengthen ties in technological innovation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
Li expressed enthusiasm for deepening cooperation in research, industry, and talent development, leveraging the new partnership as a catalyst.
The MOU, signed by Li Wenli, director of the HKAABJU Secretariat, and Wang Xiang, director of the GSF Secretariat, establishes a framework for collaboration in event hosting, tech services, and talent exchange.
The meeting represents a significant step in integrating high-end resources and strengthening the Hong Kong-Macao collaboration for GSF. The GSF Secretariat will continue its preparations for the upcoming 2025 event while also focusing on the construction and operation of the permanent venue. Emphasis will be placed on sustainable development and the expansion of the international network to promote regional growth and competitiveness.
