HKUST(GZ) drives innovation at 3rd INNOTECH
The Hong Kong University Of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)) on June 14-15 hosted the 3rd INNOTECH, a prominent event in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). With over 140 top innovation projects and hundreds of investors and leading companies, it attracted nearly 2500 guests.
Professor Lionel M. Ni, a member of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum's Strategic Advisory Committee and president of HKUST(GZ), highlighted the university's commitment to contributing to national education, technology, and talent development through knowledge transfer.
He stated that within three years, HKUST(GZ) has nurtured 150 student entrepreneurship projects, with over 70 registered companies valued at nearly 4.5 billion yuan ($625 million). The HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer and Transformation Base has also seen success, hosting 28 projects with significant value.
He also announced the approval of the MBA+ program at HKUST(GZ), designed to cultivate tech-savvy business leaders who can effectively support startups. The program, launching in September 2026, will offer a distinctive training system with academic, entrepreneurial, and capital mentors for each student.
INNOTECH showcased HKUST(GZ)'s commitment to interdisciplinary education, knowledge transfer, international collaboration, and industry partnerships. From discussions on tech trends to breakthroughs in smart technologies and international cooperation, the university continues to drive innovation in GBA.
