John Hopcroft

John Hopcroft is guest of honor at the Greater Bay Area Science Forum 2025. He was the 1986 Turing Award laureate--the highest global honor in the field of computer science, and is a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who has long been engaged in research on theoretical computer science. Among the students he has mentored, many have been elected as academicians in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, and two of them have been awarded the Turing Award.

Since 2011, at the invitation of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of China, John Hopcroft has carried out international scientific research cooperation and cultivated top-notch talents in computer science in Chinese universities as a high-end academic master.

In 2016, he won the "Chinese Government Friendship Award", the highest honor for foreign experts in China.

In 2024, Hopcroft was awarded the International Science and Technology Cooperation Awards of the People's Republic of China.
