Chen Hesheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and researcher at the CAS Institute of High Energy Physics.

An esteemed physicist, Chen Hesheng has been recognized with numerous national and academic honors, including the First and Second Prizes of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, the Medal of the National Innovation Award, the CAS Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Prize, and an Honorary Doctorate from City University of Hong Kong.

His distinguished career has included leadership roles in two major national scientific projects: the major upgrade of the Beijing Positron and Negative Electron Collider (BEPC) and the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) Project. China's first spallation neutron source was successfully constructed under his direction. This facility serves as a vital technological platform supporting national development strategies and cutting-edge basic science.

Its applications span critical areas such as residual stress detection in large engineering components for deep-sea submersibles, aircraft engines, and high-speed railway wheels; in-situ studies of new energy batteries; research into novel drug mechanisms; and boron neutron capture therapy for targeted tumor treatment.
