Nansha leads tech innovation at 2025 GSF

The 2025 Greater Bay Area Science Forum (GSF) will take place from Dec 6 to 8 in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, with the main events set to be held in Nansha, Guangzhou. Featuring the theme "Industry-Research Integration Drives Smart Innovation in GBA", the forum highlights Nansha's major technological achievements.

Nansha has been pivotal in integrating technological and industrial innovation, as outlined in the Overall Development Plan of Nansha Science City (2022-35). Collaborations with Dongguan and Shenzhen are fostering the Greater Bay Area Comprehensive National Science Center. Nansha Science City has appointed 11 top experts and established 263 innovation platforms.

Since its 2022 opening in Nansha, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) has developed 15 central and 25 themed labs. The Nansha sub-center of the National Supercomputer Center has enhanced connectivity with Hong Kong, providing 300 million core-hours of computing support to over 260 teams.

Nansha's research and developmen investment intensity is 5.48 percent, with high-tech enterprises growing at 21.5 percent annually. Financially, 18 billion yuan ($2.54 billion) has been invested into 72 projects through the local innovation fund.

Talent initiatives have attracted over 25,000 recruits, including 314 young people from Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas. GSF has been held for three consecutive years and has drawn over 300 academicians and thousands of experts, reinforcing Nansha's role as a leader in tech and innovation.
