Volunteer service provides strong support for Greater Bay Area Science Forum
The 2025 Greater Bay Area Science Forum was held from Dec 6 to 8, with the opening ceremony and main forum taking place in Nansha district, Guangzhou.
To ensure the smooth operation of the event, the Nansha District Volunteer Association organized and trained 139 volunteers from universities such as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. These volunteers collectively provided 425 person-hours of service, totaling over 5,000 hours.
Given the forum's large scale and diverse attendees, the association innovatively developed a "volunteer matrix" with 13 specialized roles such as safety, guest reception, multilingual translation, logistics, and medical support. This network enabled efficient, end-to-end collaboration. The dedicated volunteers ensured smooth operations across all areas, including venue inspections, emergency responses, material distribution, and language assistance.
To meet the forum's international needs, the association assembled a team of professional translation volunteers, offering precise language services for Chinese and international guests. This effectively supported multiple international scientific exchanges and collaboration discussions, showcasing the professional skills and global outlook of young people in the GBA.
This volunteer service not only ensured the forum's successful hosting but also demonstrated the organizational innovation and professionalism of volunteer work in Nansha.
